Your Defense
“The Lord is my strength and my defense, He has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise Him, my father’s God, and I will exalt Him. The Lord is a warrior; the Lord is His name.” - Exodus 15:2-3
Do you understand why you must not look behind you when you are pursuing God’s plans and purposes for your life? It’s like looking at the rear window when trying to drive forward. You cannot see what is ahead of you and you place yourself in greater danger, focusing on the wrong direction.
You do not have to forget the past; however, you must not let it distract you so much that you cannot look ahead. God is trying to keep you focused on the task at hand because there is greater that lies ahead.
We are in the middle of discussing three crucial ways that our thought patterns must change if we want to experience true life change and walk into a new chapter in our lives, a chapter that looks different than the past few.
Yesterday, we looked at the first step, refocusing your attention. Instead of focusing on what was, focus on what is to come. And more importantly, focus on the One who is directing your future.
God wants you to look forward, not behind. But how can we look forward without any fear of getting attacked from behind? How can we have peace without looking back? Well, because we can know that God is our defense.
Exodus 15:2-3 says, “The Lord is my strength and my defense, He has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise Him, my father’s God, and I will exalt Him. The Lord is a warrior; the Lord is His name.”
When you are obedient to God, He takes full responsibility for everything else. That includes your protection. God will not let you be harmed. As you look forward in obedience to Him, He will be your defense, protecting you from any enemy that schemes against you.
Refocus your attention. Look to what is ahead. God’s got your back. He is your defense!
