Refocus Your Attention
“The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” - Proverbs 18:10
If you want to leave your old life behind and step into the life God is calling you to live, you are going to have to do a few things differently. Albert Einstein is famously quoted as saying, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”
If you want to change your life, you must change the patterns of your life. Over the next three days, we are going to look at three things you must do if you want to reshape your life and step into the new chapter that God is calling you into.
First, you must refocus your attention. Instead of focusing on your enemies or what others have done to you, it is time to focus on what God can do FOR you. If you want to step into this next season of life, your focus can’t be on what happened in the last season.
Proverbs 18:10 reminds us, “The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.”
When you decide you are going to take a new path and start something “new,” it is easy to become scared. But rather than focusing on that which is unpredictable and doubtful, decide you are going to focus on that in which you can be confident, and that is Jesus Christ.
True freedom is when you can pursue what is before you, walking forward without having to look at what is behind you. Unfortunately, many people never find that type of freedom. They can’t keep their eyes fixed on what is ahead for turning around and looking back.
Do you want to walk into this next chapter of life? It’s time to refocus your attention. Quit giving all of your thoughts to the past and what was. Instead, focus on what can be, and more specifically, on WHO it is that is writing your future. Do you want real change? It starts by refocusing your attention.
