Peace Be With You
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” - John 14:27-28
Are you struggling to step into the life God wants for you? Maybe God has revealed His good and perfect will for your life, shown you exactly what He wants you to do, and now all you must do is obey Him and claim the blessings He wants to bestow on you.
There is just one thing. In order to step into the new life God wants to bring you, you must let go of the old life you had. This doesn’t just mean old habits, but old memories. The reason so many people miss out on God’s blessings is because they cannot let go of the past. This means letting go of what happened to you, even if you don’t have closure.
When you get a cut or break a bone, your body’s natural response is to heal. We even have the ability to purchase insurance that allows us to receive the assistance we need to heal. But what happens when we need emotional healing?
Sometimes the body’s response is not as expedient, or we don’t seek out resources to help us cope because we prefer to hide those wounds. We carry them through our memories, we replay scenarios over in our head of what we could have done differently, we smile on the outside, but we are dying on the inside. We become sad, bitter, and/or apathetic as we ineffectively cope with the pain.
But God is a healer. He not only provides us comfort. He send others to help comfort us and help us cope with those things that we are unable to cope with alone.
Even if you feel like you can’t move forward, trust God. God never leads you where His grace cannot sustain you. Everything He is calling you into, He will take care of. You will have all you need. He will give you the strength. You have the peace of God. And that, my friend, is all you need.
