You Don’t Have to Wait
“But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins—He then said to the paralytic – ‘Rise, pick up your bed and go home.’ And he rose and went home.” - Matthew 9:6-7
“And He said to him, ‘Rise and go your way; your faith has made you well.’” - Luke 17:19
What are you waiting for in your life right now? All throughout Scripture, we see verses of people “waiting on God.” Preachers all over the country, even all over the world, preach about waiting on God. They say don’t get ahead of God, don’t do your own thing, and don’t go against the will of God.
Now, all these things are true. But what if you aren’t ahead of God? What if you are BEHIND Him? What if instead of waiting on God, God is waiting on YOU? We often hear about how we need to wait. But what we don’t hear enough is, sometimes, we need to move.
We sit around and think about what has happened to us. We lay with our thoughts, bathing in pain, heartache, and disappointment. Don’t get me wrong, there is a time to do this. No one said that you must move on the second after something difficult happens to you.
The problem is that difficulty doesn’t last forever. Yet sometimes, we live as if it does. God wants you to know, you don’t have to wait any longer. Maybe you are waiting on Him to “heal you.” But what if instead, He is actually waiting on you?
You say, “Pastor, how is God waiting on me?” Maybe, instead of waiting and sitting around in your feelings to be healed, God wants you to get up and step forward. Maybe it is in getting up that you will be healed.
In Matthew 9, Jesus heals a paralytic man. Verses 6-7 say, “But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins—He then said to the paralytic -- ’Rise, pick up your bed and go home.’ And he rose and went home.”
Did you catch that? Before he was healed Jesus said “RISE.” Do you want to be made well? Do you want to be healed? You don’t have to wait. You just have to get up. It’s time to move on and move forward. But you can’t do that if you don’t get up first. Let me ask you again, what are you waiting for?
