You Can Live...With It
“Behold, I will bring to it health and healing, and I will heal them and reveal to them abundance of prosperity and security.” - Jeremiah 33:6
2 Samuel 13 tells the story of a beautiful woman named Tamar. This woman was a virgin girl, saving herself for a husband of the highest honor. One day, her brother, Amnon, who had a great lust for her, sexually abused her. After which, he looked at her with disgust and sent her away.
Abused and embarrassed, Tamar was devastated. Their father, David, even turned his head and looked the other way. There was no justice for Tamar. She lost her virginity. She lost the status that was going to gain her the husband of her dreams. And there was no justice for her.
Your story might not be to the extent of Tamar’s, but we all deal with things in life that we believe will break us. None of us goes through life without being hit, hurt, and knocked down from time to time.
We are hit by shocking illness, hurt by disappointment, and knocked down by one cold, hard, and difficult calamity after another. In fact, it’s something Jesus assures us will happen. He said in this life you will have tribulation. When challenges come our way in life, it’s not a question of “can you live with it?”
You can. It won’t be easy. It won’t be “all good” or “fine.” No one is asking you to fake how you feel. No one expects you to act “hard” or “tough” and just “push through.” It’s not about that.
Instead, it’s about remembering Whom you serve. Your God is a healing God. Jeremiah 33:6 says, “Behold, I will bring to it health and healing, and I will heal them and reveal to them abundance of prosperity and security.”
He doesn’t say all things will be good. They won’t be. But He will heal us. No matter what we go through, we can live... with it. Not because of our own strength, but because of Him. He will provide the strength we need. We just need to lean on Him and He will help us through.
