His Time
“But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.” - 2 Peter 3:8
We have discussed two reasons why we worry: that God’s will is not our will and that God’s ways are not our ways. However, a third reason we worry is because we believe that God’s timing is not our timing.
We live in a microwave generation. We want food prepared and delivered instantly. If God has something for us, we want God to do it and deliver it now and if it’s not happening, we don’t believe God is working. We want immediate gratification. I saw a bumper sticker recently that said, “Lord, give me patience, and do it now.”
But God’s time is not our time. 2 Peter 3:8 says, “But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.” God is not in a rush and neither should we be. He is Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. If he is at the beginning and the end, he knew us at birth and he knows what the outcome of our lives will be.
He wants to give us the very best in life. What God has to offer is greater than anything you could ever create on your own. But you must trust Him. And that trust must be strong even when His will, His ways, and His timing are different from yours. Trust in His time.
