His Will
“’My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,’ says the Lord. ‘And My ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.’” - Isaiah 55:8-9
Today, we continue our discussion on “worrying.” To be obedient to God, we cannot worry. The Bible says in Hebrews 11:6, “And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to Him must believe that God exists and that He rewards those who sincerely seek Him.”
Did you catch that? Without faith, it is IMPOSSIBLE to please God. Worrying is out of His will. Over the next three days, we will discuss three reasons we worry despite knowing God is in control. The first reason we worry is because we believe God’s will is different from ours. We worry that the outcome God is leading us to is not what we want nor what we asked for.
You may have made up in your mind that you were going to obtain a particular job or relationship. It may be something that you have been praying for. However, God may be saying, I have something better in store. You believe that obtaining what you want is the best thing, but you cannot see down the line what the ultimate result of obtaining that thing will be. But God sees!
Isaiah 55:8-9 states, “‘My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,’ says the Lord. ‘And My ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.’”
Trusting God is always worth it. But it does not mean God will always do what you initially want Him to do. He will do what is best for you; and when you understand that you will appreciate the outcome even more.
God knows what He is doing, but we must trust His will above our own.
