You Are Seen
“Thereafter, Hagar used another name to refer to the Lord, who had spoken to her. She said, ‘You are the God who sees me.’ She also said, ‘Have I truly seen the One who sees me?’” - Genesis 16:13
Do you feel seen? We live in a society where everyone is competing for attention. This is why social media has taken off the way it has over the last decade. These platforms give people a space to be seen. As human beings, we naturally all want to be seen by others.
But did you know, you don’t have to work for it? If you are a child of God, He sees you right now. He sees you, and He knows what you are going through. He knows how you feel. He knows what you are excited about, what you are afraid of, and what you hope for in the future. He knows it all. He sees you, and He loves you.
It is easy to look around and try to find ways to show the world “I’m here, look at me!” That is what so many are trying to do, whether it be through social media or just a social event. Have you ever noticed how hard some people try to be seen at a social gathering? They force jokes that aren’t that funny, or they raise their voice to be a little louder, just so everyone hears them.
People are constantly competing to be seen. But for what? What you are looking for in terms of fulfillment will not be met simply by others noticing you. What you are looking for can only be found through a relationship with your Heavenly Father.
And the best part is, you don’t have to work for that! He already sees you. When you pray to Him, you can tell Him everything that is going on in your life, but you are not telling Him anything He doesn’t already know. He knows because He is watching you.
You are seen and loved by God! And that, my friend, is worth far more than all the likes and follows you could ever receive from others.
