Patiently Waiting
“Dear brothers and sisters, be patient as you wait for the Lord’s return. Consider the farmers who patiently wait for the rains in the fall and in the spring. They eagerly look for the valuable harvest to ripen.” - James 5:7
If you have spent time studying the Bible, God’s Word, you have probably heard about WAITING, whether as a command from God Himself or in a story from a biblical character. The Bible is filled with examples of God’s people patiently (or impatiently) waiting on Him.
Waiting is important. It is how God grows our faith. Think about it. If you never had to wait on God, why would you need faith? If He just gave it to you immediately, there would be no growth in terms of trusting that He will deliver.
God is adamant about us waiting on Him. James 5:7 says, “Dear brothers and sisters, be patient as you wait for the Lord’s return. Consider the farmers who patiently wait for the rains in the fall and in the spring. They eagerly look for the valuable harvest to ripen.”
We have spent the last week or so talking about faith, fasting, and trusting in God... but all of that requires waiting. We’ve all heard the sayings, “the best things take time” and “the best things come to those who wait.” They that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. If you want God to bless you, it will take time.
Your job is simply to be patient and wait on Him. And that does not mean doing nothing. This is the time to continue to read the Bible and your devotionals.
Patience takes time. You may be looking for an immediate sign, but God often doesn’t operate the way. God operates on His own timing. He wants to know that you trust that timing. Wait patiently and allow God to do a work in your life. Time spent waiting on God is never wasted!
