How To Find Godly Solutions
“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” - John 10:27
We live in the information age – a time when any piece of information we want is easily accessible through the internet. But while it is easy to access information, it can also dangerous because all information is not godly information.
The Bible says we ought to seek “godly counsel,” or godly wisdom. So here are three principles to help you discern whether the advice you are given is a godly solution for life and living:
First, it will be based on Scripture. As believers, God’s Word is our source of authority on matters of faith and practice. When we are looking for answers to life’s challenges, we need to make sure that it lines up with the Word of God.
Second, godly solutions are uplifting and edifying. There’s a non-spiritual idea that has masqueraded as the Gospel and that is the idea that suffering is redemptive. And it causes a lot of people to lose their sense of self. Godly solutions nourish you, not deplete you.
Thirdly, godly solutions aren’t based on hype. I see a lot of Christians being sucked into schemes and scams that promote products, businesses, and investment ideas that have no long-term sustainability, just the allure of quick, short-term money. Godly solutions aren’t based on hype.
If you want to be able to discern between what God wants for you and what the world wants for you, these are three ways to know the difference. If you are questioning whether what you have heard aligns with God’s vision for you, ask these questions: Does this line up with God’s Word? Is this uplifting and edifying for me? Is this just hype or a temporary fade?
When you ask yourself these questions, you can better determine what God’s will is for your life.
