Influencers
“It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in people.” - Psalm 118:8
Over the last couple of days, we have talked about what it means to gain “all access” to your Heavenly Father. To do that, you must decide to walk “through the gate.” What gate, you ask? In John 10:9 Jesus tells us, “Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures.”
If you want to live a better life, if you want to live healthier, if you want prosperity, and if you want to achieve your greatest dreams, you need to come through the door. I want to suggest to you that if you put Jesus first in your life, if you seek His will, and follow His example, you too can find the practical answers to the problems you face in every area of life.
But many people struggle with discerning whether the answers they obtain to address the issues in their faith, the problems in their family, the struggles in their finances, and the concerns they have about relationships are from God.
If you’re on social media, then you know that you are constantly bombarded with advice, tips, and suggestions on just about every area you can think of. It used to be that a person had to be an expert in something. They had to be trained, go to school, be an expert in a particular field, and get a book published by a credible publisher.
But now, anyone with a phone and something on their mind can become a guru on love, money, success, business, spirituality, parenting, politics, and just about anything else. So, we must be careful. Just because someone has a Twitter account, YouTube channel, or a lot of Instagram followers does not mean that what they are saying is right, credible, or worthy of being applied and incorporated into your life.
Don’t let “influencers” drive all your decisions in life. This does not just apply to social media, but to your friends and family as well. Psalm 118:8 says, “It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in people.”
When it comes to discerning who it’s from, pray about it and make sure God is in it. It will save you a lot of pain and a lot of time.
