It Takes Humility
“Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.” - 2 Chronicles 7:14
Yesterday, we uncovered how as a child of God, we are “His people.” We were chosen by Him. That is amazing to think about, but that also comes with a responsibility.
The verse continues, “if my people…will humble themselves....” See, prayer takes humility. When you seek God, you are admitting you cannot do life on your own. That is why it is so important to ask God for guidance. When you pray, you are releasing the good and bad parts of your life to God. This takes humility.
Sometimes God puts us in circumstances that we cannot handle on our own. It might be a job where we feel unequipped. It might be a relationship that, despite our best efforts, can’t be salvaged. It might be a blessing we are waiting for but cannot obtain on our own.
Whatever it is, God often allows things to happen to remind us of our reliance on Him. There is something humbling about being in a situation you can’t do anything about, isn’t there? But that might just be exactly where God wants you.
If you want to experience the power of prayer in its entirety, you must understand that you have to humble yourself. When you do so, amazing things can happen. Are you ready to humble yourself and give it to God or are you going to keep trying to do it on your own, your way?
