I’ll Start Tomorrow
“Lazy people want much but get little, but those who work hard will prosper.” - Proverbs 13:4
Yesterday, we looked at an old popular Latin phrase, “Carpe diem.” This phrase means “seize the day.” The basic idea behind the phrase is that you are not promised tomorrow, so live today to its fullest. We also looked yesterday at a verse in Matthew 6 that suggests the same idea.
The verse says, “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today” (Matthew 6:34). See, the journey God wants to lead you on begins NOW. So many times, we pray for things, and we hear God say “wait.”
We want something at that moment, but we just can’t have it. But other times, we delay ourselves. We want something, we want to improve ourselves or our quality of life, but we make it more of a dream than an actual goal we work towards. We envision it and think “it would be nice to…”
“It would be nice to lose 20 pounds. It would be nice to get back in shape. It would be nice to work on my side hustle and chase my career dreams.” We think about “how nice it would be,” but then we don’t do anything about it. We can come up with every excuse in the book as to why we haven’t started.
And then there is the old phrase, “I’ll start tomorrow.” It is always easy to push it back. I’ll start tomorrow. Or I’ll start Monday. Or it is almost summer. Or the new year is right around the corner. We always can find a reason to “start tomorrow.” But we are just delaying the life God wants us to live.
The dreams, visions, and goals inside of you are not there by accident. God placed those things inside of you purposely. And though we hear many sermons about “waiting on God timing,” and that is always critical, there are times when God is waiting on us—He is speaking for us, saying, “now is the time.”
Have you ever found yourself saying “I’ll start tomorrow”? God is ready to bless you today. He wants you to begin pursuing the growth, dreams, and life you have on your heart because He placed it there. He wants you to just go for it! Do not delay any longer. Don’t put off tomorrow what you can do today!
