How Bad Do You Want It?
“I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.” - Philippians 3:14
How bad do you want it? What is it you want to do with your life? Do you want to serve Christ and reach your potential through Him?
Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk is a professional boxer, a world champion in two weight classes, an Olympic gold medalist, and the first cruiserweight champion to hold four major world titles. To prepare for a fight, he once swam 6.2 miles in a five-hour training session, rode a bike 62.1 miles in 110-degree heat, and held his breath for four minutes and 40 seconds.
Usyk realized, in order to actualize his dreams, he had to be willing to put in the work. Everyone wants the success, but not everyone is willing to work for it. Our Christ walk is similar, a race of spiritual endurance that requires all our time and effort.
Despite the fatigue that may kick in, we must continue to pray, we must continue to worship and read our Bible. We must continue to have faith in God and share the Good News of Christ as our Lord and Savior. Because at the end of our race, we will be rewarded with eternal life. And it’s not only about our spiritual life.
God wants us to put 110% into everything we do here on earth. Because in every aspect of our lives, we are still representatives of God. People are watching us and trying to decide if it’s worth it to follow the God that we serve. Our temperaments, attitudes, behaviors, and conversations reveal the God in us.
When you wake up in the morning, ask yourself, “How bad do I want it?” How bad do you want joy, how bad do you want peace, how bad do you want Godly purpose to shine in your life. And then it’s time to work. Spend time with God, meditate on His word, find a body of believers who can keep you encouraged, and run the race set before you!
