Them Then… And YOU NOW
“The sounds of joy and laughter. The joyful voices of bridegrooms and brides will be heard again, along with the joyous songs of people bringing thanksgiving offerings to the Lord. They will sing, Give thanks to the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, for the Lord is good. His faithful love endures forever! For I will restore the prosperity of this land to what it was in the past, says the Lord.’” - Jeremiah 33:11
After Jeremiah declares the assurance of God’s help, he proceeds to let us know about the application of that help. In other words, he wants the people he was preaching to then and us now to understand how God was going to administer the help He promises.
It comes on the heels of declaring in Jeremiah 33:10-11 that things are going to get better in the personal lives of God’s people.
He says, “This is what the Lord says: You have said, ‘This is a desolate land where people and animals have all disappeared.’ Yet in the empty streets of Jerusalem and Judah’s other towns, there will be heard once more. The sounds of joy and laughter. The joyful voices of bridegrooms and brides will be heard again, along with the joyous songs of people bringing thanksgiving offerings to the Lord. They will sing, Give thanks to the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, for the Lord is good. His faithful love endures forever! For I will restore the prosperity of this land to what it was in the past, says the Lord.’”
He is talking about the restoration of laughter in the streets, the voice of mirth and gladness, wedding bells in the air, the voice of the bridegroom and the bridge. God is going to restore their personal lives!
This is applicable to today. This is about YOU and YOUR LIFE, too! God is going to restore your life, personally. When is the last time you smiled with true joy? When is the last time you laughed? No matter what you are going through, these moments are coming in your life. The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is going to restore YOU.
His faithful love endures forever! Are you readily waiting for God to restore the prosperity in your life?
