Another At-Bat
“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” - Psalm 73:26
Have you struck out? Have you made a decision driven by desperation? Have you listened to the wrong people’s advice? Are you facing the consequences of those decisions even now? I have good news for you: you will get another at-bat!
The strike zone of life is God’s perfect will and plan for your life, and anything you swing at outside is chasing after things that are not part of that will. But perhaps for you, it is too late. You have already swung. The good news is that it is not the end!
If you are still living and breathing, then God is not done with you. He still has an amazing plan for your life, and He wants you to seek Him to start pursuing that plan today. See, like baseball, there are times when we are going to strikeout. We might chase pitches (opportunities) outside God’s will. And that might lead to trouble and even devastating consequences.
But that is not the end of the story. There is another opportunity for you and there is another chance to swing at a pitch inside God’s strike zone and knock this one out of the park. Psalm 73 is a great reminder that, “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
We are imperfect people living in an imperfect world. But fortunately for you, me, and all believers, we serve a perfect God. And He is ready for you to step back up to the plate and take a swing at His will. It is not the end for you. Will you begin pursuing God’s destiny for you today?
