They’re Not God!
“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.’” - Jeremiah 29:11
If you want to make decisions that are in line with God’s perfect will for your life, you must not only refuse to make decisions out of desperation, but you must also understand the truth about those who love you, those who are closest to you, and those who genuinely want the best for you.
While they might want the best for you, that does not mean that they know what is best for you. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.’” This is a plan only God knows. He does not give it to all those who are close to you.
And that is why you must listen to Him and not them, because they’re not God! Some of us like to assume that everyone in our corner knows what is best for us. Do you remember when Rebekah encouraged Jacob to put fake hair on his chest to pursue Isaac to give Jacob his blessing? She loved Jacob and she wanted the right thing, but she was going about it the wrong way.
We cannot always listen to those around us. Sometimes God will only give you the vision, dream, or destiny. Those around you might not be able to see it, or at least parts of it. You cannot always listen to their advice because that advice might lead you outside of God’s strike zone. If you want to stay in the perfect will of God, you must first remember who holds your future and then follow only that voice.
