The Wrong Direction
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” - Proverbs 3:5-6
Have you ever tried to get somewhere and missed the turn? If you have been driving long enough, you have likely done this at some point or another. There have been times in my life when I was trying to get to an appointment or meeting only to discover I had made a wrong turn.
Somehow, someway, I was unable to get where I was going because I either took the wrong exit, went down the wrong road, or misread the directions. And as a consequence, I arrived at the wrong destination. Usually, the mistake was minor. I may have gotten the numbers in the address out of order, wrote down NE when I should have written down NW, or followed the car in front of me when I shouldn’t have.
But whatever the reason, I got off track, ended up lost, and it delayed my plans. Had there been GPS technology at that time, I could have prevented this. I thought I knew where I was going, but apparently, I did not, and because I got off track, it caused me to miss out on a major opportunity.
There is a German proverb that says, “What is the use of running when you are not on the right road?” No matter how much effort we expend trying to get to our destination, our efforts will be wasted if we are not heading in the right direction. Proverbs 3 tells us, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Are you heading in the right direction? Not on the highway, but on the road of your life? Are you going where God has led you? Or are you taking your own path? He tells us that if we trust in Him and lean not on our own understanding, He will make our path straight. Follow Him, so you do not go in the wrong direction.
