Work For What You Are Waiting For
“He will also send you rain for the seed you sow in the ground and the food that comes from the land will be rich and plentiful. In that day your cattle will graze in broad meadows.” - Isaiah 30:23
While you are waiting on God, there are three things you can be doing in the meantime. As we have referenced the last couple of days, we see this from a woman in 1 Samuel 1, who was childless and spending her meantime waiting on God to deliver what He had promised her: a baby. And while God is the only one powerful enough to make these kind of dreams and requests possible, there are still things you can do while you wait on Him to do what only He can do.
The first thing you must do is stop worrying, God is in control. The second thing is to keep worshipping. Praise God for who He is and what you know He is going to do for you. Third, you must work towards what you are waiting for. When Hannah kept worshipping, she discovered the missing key to her breakthrough. What she realized was that as important as it was for her to keep worshipping, she had to start working on what she was waiting for.
Verse 19 says, “They rose early in the morning and worshiped before the Lord; then they went back to their house at Ramah. Elkanah knew his wife Hannah, and the Lord remembered her.” She was worshipping so that God would do His part but realized in prayer that she had to start working to do her part. She learned that she still had a part to play if she wanted her dream of having a baby to come to pass.
Are you waiting on God? Is there a prayer you are praying because only God can do what you need? It’s very wise you have given control to God and are allowing Him to take control. But this does not mean you are stuck on the sidelines. God will often challenge you and give you ways to grow as you wait for your blessing. He is looking for your faith and obedience to stay on track. Seek Him to find what you should be doing in the present.
