Fireproof
“I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. - Philippians 4:11-12
Over the last week, we have spent a lot of time talking about the storms that life throws our way. And while God promises that no weapon will prevail against us, there is something you must know. God does not always deliver us from stuff. Sometimes He delivers us in it. He has the ability to preserve you and keep you while you are in the storm.
That is the underlying theme of Daniel 3. God does not just deliver us from the storm; He can deliver us in the storm. Perhaps the story of the woman with an issue of blood is not just that she pressed her way through the crowd to get her healing, but how for 12 years she was losing blood, but never lost her life. This is before the days of blood transfusions. And yet, God kept her.
It is what God did for the three Hebrew boys. God didn’t deliver them from the fiery furnace. He delivered them in it. He made them fireproof. Something can be trying to kill you, something can be trying to take you out, and God will put a shield of protection around you so that the fire does not burn you.
Maybe you won’t get the house, but God can give you joy in the apartment. Maybe you will have to stay in that job, but you can still find a way to increase your wages and retire with a good pension. Maybe the sickness won’t go away, but it won’t kill you. God may not always deliver you from your circumstances. Sometimes He might just deliver you in them. Trust that He knows best and will do what is truly in your best interest.
