Next Level Faith
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” - Hebrews 11:1
As God tests you, He will grow your faith. He wants to take your faith to the next level. He wants you to trust Him, even when you do not know how things will play out. He wants to know that even when all hope seems lost, you will trust Him. That is the next level faith God wants you to grow into.
This is what God was doing with Abraham. He was preparing Abraham for the next level of faith. There is a dimension of faith that Abraham had yet to show evidence of, so God designed a storm to develop that dimension of faith. Genesis 22:5 says, “He said to his servants, ‘Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. We will worship and then we will come back to you.’”
This is interesting because he is going up the mountain to sacrifice his son, but he speaks on the front end that he and his son were coming back. Then, in verse 8, when Isaac asks, “were is the lamb for a burnt offering?” Abraham responds that God will provide the lamb.
In other words, he went up that mountain believing that God would supply his every need, and so even though he doesn’t see the supply, Abraham starts speaking what he is believing for.
This is next level faith on full display. Abraham did not know how God would do it, but he knew that God could not lie, and that God would be true to His word. Up to this point, Abraham has been standing on God’s promises, but now he was speaking God’s promises.
What promise do you need to speak today? What has God told you He would do that you are worried He won’t? Maybe you think God didn’t hear you, or He forgot, or He doesn’t care. But none of these could be further from the truth. He heard you. He has not forgotten you. And He cares more than you will ever know.
Abraham trusted God when He told him to sacrifice his only son. Abraham spoke his faith before he even saw it. That is next level faith. What do you need to show next level faith for? God will do what He said he would do. Show Him you believe He will, BEFORE He shows you!
