Let God Be God
“He said: “Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the Lord says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.” - 2 Chronicles 20:15
There are some things we cannot handle alone. The Lord tells Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20 to not be afraid because God is an ever-present help in time of trouble.
A multitude sought to attack God’s people by sneaking around Judah and Jerusalem. When King Jehoshaphat discovered this, it was too late to rally an army. The king called a fast among Judah and prayed for God to remain faithful and protect them, as he had always done. The king knew he didn’t have the power but trusted that God did. And God still has that power today.
We don’t always know how God is going to work things out. We just need to trust that He will. Next time your back is up against the wall, or you feel like your dreams and hopes are crashing in front of you, pray to God that He will move in your favor as He has done in the past.
Do as Peter said, cast all your cares on Him knowing that He cares for you because God is sovereign. He is omnipresent, omniscient, and omnipotent. This means that He is everywhere, He has all knowledge, and He is all powerful. There is no burden too heavy for Him to lift, no tear too painful for Him to dry, and no challenge too difficult for Him to handle.
God is so high you cannot get over Him, so low you cannot get under Him, and so wide that you cannot get around Him. So let God be God and let Him take control of the steering wheel of your life. When you let God be God, He takes care of everything. “For the battle is not yours, but God’s.”
