Worth The Weight
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” - Isaiah 41:10
Yesterday, we talked about the story of the man who was called to push the rock. There was a huge boulder in his front yard, and he was tasked with pushing the rock. The man became frustrated with God when the rock was not moving. God responded by telling the man that He only tasked him with pushing the rock and not moving the rock.
After God said this, the man looked a bit despondent. And so, God told him, “Have you taken a good look at your hands?” The man looked at his hands and discovered that they had grown calluses and become tough because of the effort he exerted pushing the rock. He then looked at his forearms and noticed how his shoulders were bulging with muscles in ways they never had before.
After a while, the man realized that while he thought he was wasting his time pushing against the rock, God was actually using the “weight” of the rock to help him gain strength. It was developing him in areas he didn’t know he needed. And when he thought about all of the things he wanted to do in life, he realized that he would be able to do them now because of the strength of his hands and the muscles in his arms.
It was then and there that he realized that the entire process was worth the weight. Not the “WAIT” but “WEIGHT.” We always think “waiting” is just about time, but it is also about building our physical, mental, and spiritual fortitude. If we only focus on the outcome, our efforts may look like a failure. But if we focus on the process, we will see our progress.
Isaiah 41:10 tells us, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” God builds up your strength in order to use that strength for His glory and your reward!
