God Has Greater in Store
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” - Isaiah 43:18-19
Where God wants to lead you is greater than where you’ve previously been. Little Johnny had a toy soldier that he carried with him everywhere he went. If he left that toy soldier at home, he begged his mother to go back so he could get it. Even though he complained about it missing an arm and the soldier’s hat was beginning to fade, Johnny still needed to have the soldier with him.
One day before Christmas, Johnny was frantic because he couldn’t find his toy. He looked everywhere with no luck. Little did he know his parents had taken the toy because they planned to gift him with a new one for Christmas. On Christmas day, when Johnny received the new toy solider, he was initially unimpressed. But then he saw that the toy soldier came with a shiny new hat and a few more accessories, his lack of enthusiasm changed to joy.
We are often like Johnny, choosing to hold on to those things which no longer serve us, not realizing that God has better in store if we are willing to trust Him.
Where God is leading you is greater than where you have been. The opportunities God has for you are greater than the familiar pain and people you want to hold on to. And when you step forward and quit looking back, it leaves room for God to work in and through you.
