An “Out-Of-The-Box” God
“‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the Lord. ‘As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.’” - Isaiah 55:8-9
Yesterday, we discussed not making decisions that are driven by desperation. Often, these decisions are made because we have already determined the way in which God should work. And often, having determined the way God will work makes us believe there is a certain timeframe in which these events should happen.
The problem with this idea is that God does not always do things the way we want Him to, when we want Him to. He might have already promised you an outcome, and if He did, He will deliver. God is a God of promise. And He will do exactly what He said He will do. In Isaiah 55, the Lord says, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways… as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
God knows best. He not only knows the best way, but He knows the best time. God may or may not deliver you, or your request, the way you want Him to. Regardless, He will move in your best interest.
Be careful trying to tell God how and when He needs to do something. When you do this, you are putting God in a box. And sometimes He will give you what you want, exactly how you want, just so you can see it was never really what you wanted nor needed. When we allow Him to be the author and creator of our stories, the endings always turn out better than we could have ever imagined. And the process is smoother. Do not box God in. Just watch what He does because you are sure to be amazed!
