Accessing God’s Blessings
“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” - Jeremiah 17:7-8
Over the last five days we have talked about the blessings readily available to those who have received Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. The internal gifts of redemption, reconciliation, revelation, responsibility, and reward are blessings God provides to those who know Him personally.
Before we were even born, God prequalified us for salvation. He preapproved us for grace, and deposited within us power, peace, and strength that we didn’t even earn yet. However, the process of sanctification is our responsibility. Sanctification happens through our actions and choices to become more like Christ. It is the process of being made holy by choosing to trust and obey God.
God gives us the key; however, we must be willing to unlock the door to access the blessings. First, we must accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior? If you do not know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you can change that TODAY! All you have to do is acknowledge your shortcomings and understand it is only through His Son, Jesus, that you can be reconciled and receive the redemption He provides. Ask God for forgiveness of your sins and ask Him to fill you with His spirit. As Romans 10:13 states, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
And second, create a plan to become closer to God. Everyone’s plan is unique to them. How will you commune with God through prayer, praise, and fellowship? What behaviors and attitudes must you change? Recognize that sanctification takes time and none of us gets it right all the time. Fall in love with the idea of feeding the spirit and not feeding the flesh.
God wants you to operate at your absolute best because it brings glory to His name and helps His children. And when you are operating in His will, He will reveal to you the revelation, responsibility, and rewards He has set aside just for you!
