God’s Blessing of Responsibility
“Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” - 1 Corinthians 15:58
Over the last three days, we have talked about the blessings of redemption, reconciliation, and revelation. Today, we are going to talk about the fourth blessing of responsibility. We are not just called to have, understand, or possess wisdom, but we are called to use the wisdom we have as a tool to manifest the promises of God on earth.
The whole of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation is about God changing people to change their world. If we bottle up God’s blessings for ourselves, we’re missing the reason for which He redeemed us, reconciled us, and reveals His will to us. He does all of that so that we can be a conduit of His presence on earth. He blesses us that we might be a blessing.
That is why as God’s people, we are to serve others so the world can experience the hand of God. There are many blessings that God has given us, including the three we have already talked about. But one of His greatest blessings, is not one that is just a gift for us, but a gift for us to share with others.
Is the blessing of responsibility one that you live out on a daily basis? As easy as it is to overlook or take for granted the redemption, reconciliation, and revelation God has given us, it is even easier to forget the responsibility we have to share those blessings along with all the other wisdom God has given us through His Word.
Perhaps these last few days have convicted you and made you pause to think of all the great blessings God has given you. Not just the physical material gifts or the relationships, but the specific gifts we have discussed. If you are thankful for those gifts, don’t stop at verbal gratitude, but take the blessing of responsibility, to extend these blessings to others, and show them that they are accessible to anyone who is willing to acknowledge Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior!
