God Is The Rock
“As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him. For who is God besides the Lord? And who is the Rock except our God?
Psalm 18:30-31
Over the last week, we have discussed the journey you will go on if you set out to pursue the plan and purpose God has designed for your life. We started the journey talking about a promise Jesus gave in Matthew 16:18, “And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.”
I asked you the question, what is your rock? God is saying that He will build His church, or in other words, His ministry, on that rock. This rock is the plan and purpose He has for you. It could be any number of things; a professional athlete, musician, social media influencer, entrepreneur, artist, creative designer, you name it. But whatever that “thing” is for you, God wants you to use it for His glory.
He wants to build a ministry through you to bring attention to Him. This is what He means when He says, “on this rock I will build my church.” We have talked about the trials you will face and the decisions you will have to make. Will you give up? Will you try it your way? The third choice you can make is to do it God’s way.
Psalm 18:31 says, “For who is God besides the Lord? And who is the Rock except our God?” Isn’t it interesting that God said He would build His church on the rock… and here we see the author of Psalm 18 write, “who is the Rock except our God?” So what does this mean?
It means that the very purpose and plan God has for your life starts and ends with Him. The rock He wants to set your life upon is Him! He is the Rock! And because of this, He wants you to allow Him to lead you every step of the way. My friend, trials will certainly come your way. But you never have to face them alone. The Lord’s ways are perfect. Allow God to be the rock, and you will never have a problem too big to handle, because nothing is too big for God!
