Our Source of Power
“‘But What about you?’ he asked. ‘Who do you say I am?’ Peter answered, ‘You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.’” - Matthew 16:15-16
What or who would you say is your source of power? If you are going to live out the divine will of God for your life, make no mistake about it… you must have a source of power helping you through all that it will take. As we mentioned yesterday, you will face opposition in this life. This opposition could come in the form of haters or other individuals that want to trip you up. This could be in the form of failed hopes, lack of finances, or any number of things.
If you follow God, you are bound to face trials. There will be plenty of adversity along the way. When that adversity comes, you really only have three choices. The first choice is you can do what most people do and give up. You can try to convince yourself that this really isn’t for you and there has to be something else God has planned (even though it is clear you are doing what you are supposed to be doing).
The second choice you have is to try and do it on your own. Far less are even willing to continue through and not give up. But how far and how long can you go in your own strength? How long before the trials or the problems get bigger than what you can handle, and you become overwhelmed?
The third choice you have is to turn to God—to allow Him to be the source of your power, to know that no matter what comes your way, you can rest in knowing He’s got you. He promises that when you follow Him, you will not fail. Joshua 21:45 says, “Not one of all the Lord’s good promises to Israel failed; everyone one was fulfilled.” If you are on the road God intended for you to be on, He’s got you. My prayer is that in times of need, you allow God to be your source of power.
