Invite Him In
“So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks find; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” - Luke 11:9-10
The good news is when we invite God into our home, some things are guaranteed to happen—things start moving and shifting. You do not just have to wait for the church building to open. You do not have to wait for the saints to gather again.
God can show up at your house. When God shows up, the first that will happen is that your countenance will be lifted. When God showed up to Abraham’s house, there is a directional shift in Abraham’s focus.
Verse 1 says when the Lord appeared, Abraham immediately “looked up.” For over twenty years, Abraham waited on the fulfillment of a divine promise. The waiting game took a toll on his life. He wondered whether following God was worth it, especially after 24 years of waiting, worrying, and wondering. But when God showed up, things turned around.
Abraham went from looking down, to looking up. Maybe you need to look up today. My friend, you might be down, but you are not out. And things can change very quickly in your life. When you let God in, He can change everything. But remember, He isn’t going to force Himself in. He knows you need Him, but He is waiting for you to recognize that need. Invite Him in and watch how things instantly change. Just like they did for Abraham, they can change for you!
