The Faith Factor
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” - Hebrews 11:1
Over the last week, we have talked about the challenges of waiting on God. We examined the frustration Abram felt with knowing there was a promise on his life. But after 10 years, he was struggling with the fact that it hadn’t happened yet. Genesis 15:6 states that after everything Abram endured, he “still believed.”
The text says a credit was made into his faith account, “it was credited to him as righteousness.” But in verse 7, God addressed Abram’s ongoing dilemma. He still believed that God would do what he said, but now he had some uncertainty about WHEN and HOW God was going to do it.
Abram was 85 years old by this time, and it had been ten years since God instructed him to leave his homeland and to embark on this journey of faith to a land flowing with milk and honey, and yet…nothing had happened. Then the Lord gave Abram a covenant to ensure what He said would take place.
In these verses, we discover that in the final analysis, faith is what we need for our journey. As humans, we often want to see facts and evidence in order to understand and believe. However, this can derail our pursuit of a closer walk with God, as he operates beyond the realm of the unseen. He wants us to trust, regardless of what we see in the carnal realm.
If you and I are ever to succeed in life, and do what God wants us to do, it requires faith. Faith will grow you in ways you never imagined. Have faith in the Father, who always delivers.
