I AM Your Promise Keeper
“After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, “Do not be afraid, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.”- Genesis 15:1
When doubt or fear begin to set in, and you do not know what to do, remember whose you are. God told Abram, “You don’t have to be afraid because I’m going to be your shield, I’m your protection." To protect means to keep safe from harm or injury. When you are going through dark days, trust and believe that God is there with you, keeping you safe from hurt, harm, and danger.
When God says I’ll be your reward, He is not talking about material possessions. Abram became wealthy with many material possessions. God knew that earthly things may gratify Abram’s earthly nature, but they couldn’t satisfy his soul. He is actually saying, “I AM your exceeding great reward.”
He wants to make the point that those cars, homes, and riches don’t make you great. It is God who makes you great. And while God may give material gifts, it is never about the gifts, but it is always about the Gift-giver.
Today, you can rest in knowing that you everything that you need, God will provide. He is YOUR promise keeper! Rejoice in knowing that God is your shield and reward!
