Can You Wait?
“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.” - Hebrews 10:23
Have you ever noticed that most of the things that you badly want will require some time and patience to reap the rewards—a degree, an executive positive, a spouse, a child. Waiting is something that life requires. You must wait in line at stores, wait at the doctor’s office, and wait for your car to be serviced.
There is nothing fun about waiting. In fact, it can be quite excruciating. There are people who pray for patience yet want the Lord to “do it now.” Proverbs 13:12 says, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.” I’m sure we can all identify with this verse, knowing how sickening it feels to keep waiting and waiting for something to come to fruition, but all the while feeling like no progress is being made.
In these times, we must have the spiritual stamina to wait on God and allow him to manifest what He has spoken. God might very well be in the process of changing and transforming your life. He might be preparing to alter your reality and your world in a way that will literally blow your mind. God works all things for good. He heals the sick, places people in relationships, changes the financial state of struggling individuals, and can even change the faith of His greatest skeptics.
The issue is not will He do it; the issue is, can you wait on Him to do it? God is a God of promise. If He says something, it will come to pass. God will change Your situation and God will change you. Hebrews 10:23 tells us to “hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.” But He will operate in his own timing.
