Now or Most?
“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.” - Psalm 37:7
Over the last week, we have spent much time talking about the Holy Spirit and His role in our lives. One of the biggest roles the Spirit plays is helping us decipher what God wants for us. Psalm 37:4 tells us, “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
The part we often overlook is to “take delight in the Lord,” which means to focus on what God desires for us, and not just what we desire for ourselves.” Psalm 37:7 says, “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.” God is ordering us to be patient as He refines our desires to be what He ultimately wants.
God created you and He knows what you want most. He even desires to give that to you, but sometimes it takes refining your heart before you can receive what you want most. God is all powerful, and He will grant it to you, but it must be in His way and in his timing.
What is it you desire most? A relationship? A new job? To move and start over in a new location? These are all things you can obtain on your own, but is it the relationship God would choose for you? Is it the job He has aligned for you? Is it the city or the country He wants you to be in? When you do it His way, you will find that it will exceed your expectations. So, choose to delight in the Lord and your path will bring the most reward.
