Beat Off The Bugs
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” - John 1:5
As believers, you and I should be under the influence of the Spirit so that we can be a light in dark spaces.
I remember driving up to my home one night and noticing one of the lights in the front of my home was not working. The next evening, remembering to replace it, I went out to change the light. To my astonishment, the light was not broken but instead it was covered in bugs. The bugs were so attracted to the light to the point that the bugs covered up the light. The light was there underneath, but the bugs (what was around it) dimmed and diminished its brightness. I did not need a new light, I needed to beat off the bugs that were blocking a light that was already shining.
Are there bugs in your life that you need to beat off? These bugs can represent anything that is dimming your light. It could be a secret sin, a toxic relationship, or a poor attitude. You must identify what the bugs are so that you know what Satan is using to try and dim your light.
John says, “The light shines in darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” If you will keep the bugs away, they cannot overcome your light. God has a purpose for you. He designed your light to shine. He has a plan specific for you, an audience specific for you, and a time specific for you. Make sure you are beating off the bugs, so when God allows you to shine, nothing is dimming your light.
