Building God's Brand, Pt. 2
“So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” – Genesis 1:27
Today, we will continue our discussion of building a personal brand. Do people see Jesus when they see you? An old hymn by B. B. McKinney states: “Let others see Jesus in you. Let others see Jesus in you; Keep telling the story, Be faithful and true. Let others see Jesus in you.”
One of the greatest things about Jesus was that he not only performed such miracles as turning water into wine (John 2:1-11), feeding the 5,000 (Matthew 14:13-2), healing a leper (Mark 1:40-45), quieting a storm (Matthew 8:23-27), curing the paralytic (Matthew 9:1-8), and raising Lazarus from the dead (John 11:38-44). He also hung out with society’s outcasts—lepers, adulterers, murderers, thieves, and liars. Why, you may ask?
By hanging out with these groups, Jesus showed what it meant to love, have compassion, and forgive. Jesus knew his assignment was not going to be all glamour, but he was willing to face that which was undesirable in order to effect change.
How do you see yourself effecting change on this earth? Does your brand consist of being good or just looking good to others? Do you seek to help those who are not as fortunate as you, or are you more concerned about what others can do for you?
God has blessed you with gifts and talents that can be used to glorify His name. Maybe you are gifted musically with a great voice or the ability to play an instrument. Maybe you are a great athlete. Or maybe you are extremely creative and can come up with great ideas that no one has thought of. Whatever your talent, use it to glorify God.
One day you are going to stand before Him. Ask yourself, is it more important to just have worldly acclaim or aim of seeing godly acclaim as well?
Never stop using your talents, God gave them to you for a reason. Just make sure you are using them to build up His kingdom and His name. Trust me, one day, you’ll be glad you did.
