Bigger Plants Need Bigger Pots
“Forget the former things, do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up, do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” – Isaiah 43:18-19
Yesterday we talked about the idea of changing locations. When you are in a famine or a drought in your life, often the best thing you can do is change your environment. This does not mean you have to sell your house and move to another city, but it does mean removing yourself from the people and mindsets that keep you from flourishing.
When a plant begins to grow, it needs to be placed in a bigger pot. If it stays in the small pot, it will begin to change colors and grow weak. A change in environment can make all the difference. The plant can grow bigger and stronger than ever before. The same principle applies to you as well.
God has a plan for your life that far exceeds what you could ask or think. True fulfillment comes from reaching your God-given potential. Your environment plays a major role, as it influences your behavior and outlook.
Show me the people you surround yourself with and I will show you who you will become. There is so much truth to this statement. If you want to discover God’s will for your life and truly live to your potential, you must surround yourself with others who are striving to do the same, and who will also challenge you to be better and to keep pursuing God.
If you are in a place right now where you are not growing, it’s time for a new environment. Nothing you ever do will be more fulfilling than living out God’s purpose for your life.
