An Offer of Love
“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” - Revelation 3:20
Christ stands at the door and knocks not only to offer restoration, not only to provide courage, but also to offer the power of His love. When someone is trying to sell a product to you, you initially may be skeptical. You want proof that it will work. You want them to demonstrate the effectiveness of the item being sold.
The only way you will know if something truly works is for someone to demonstrate it for you. This is exactly what God is trying to do as He stands at the door and knocks. He says, “Listen! I am standing at the door, knocking, if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with you, and you with me.” In other words, if you would just let me in, I can demonstrate it for you.
What God wants to demonstrate is His love. Everything God has done, is doing, and will do for you, is all in love. He loves you so much that He truly wants the best for your life and he is willing to provide. God is the salesman, and all you have to do is listen and accept His offer.
The best part of His offer is that it’s free! No matter what has happened in your past, whether someone wronged you or the deck was stacked against you, or even if you messed up personally, nothing that has happened to you or that you have done will ever eliminate the offer of God’s love. This is the ultimate gift. Choose to accept God’s love today!
