A God of Exceeding Expectations
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.” - Ephesians 3:20
We have spent the last few days talking about betrayal and what causes it. Judas betrayed God because he did not get his way. The bottom line for most of us is, we want what we want… when we want it. And if we do not get this, we begin to look for alternative solutions. We hear wise believers tell us to “wait on God” and we read verses about staying patient and waiting for God to work. But what is the benefit of waiting? What is the point, anyway?
Often times, as you wait, God is preparing your blessing. But the best part is, He is preparing to exceed your expectations. You have an idea, a desire, or dream. You have envisioned exactly what you want, and you take it to God and want him to make it happen. Now in some cases, your desire might not align with God’s will. In these cases, God will have to continue to work within your heart, to adjust your desire. But if your desire is in alignment with what He wants for you, then great news - He is preparing it for you in a greater way than you have ever dreamed or imagined it!
God is a God of love, and He truly does want what is best for you. God wants to give you your desires, when they align with His will. But He doesn’t just rush and give them to you immediately. Think about the things you value most in your life that you were not born with. Whatever it is, it is likely you had to wait some time to receive it. This increases the value that you place on whatever it is that comes to mind.
While you are waiting on God, you are not waiting in vein. God is working while you wait. He is able to do immeasurably more than you ask or imagine. He wants to exceed your expectations! And He will, but only if you wait for Him. Going ahead of God’s timing is undermining your own desire or your own dream, and it will result in less than God’s best for you. Don’t go ahead of God. Wait, and watch Him exceed your greatest expectations!
