Prayer Is Our Cornerstone
Call upon me in the day of trouble and I will deliver you. (Psalm 50:15)
If we are to truly know success in our day-to-day ministry, and if ever we should experience God’s greatness as servants of the Lord, then we have to make prayer the cornerstone of our lives and of our ministry.
The old saints were right. Prayer changes things, but it also changes people. In prayer, God will do for you what you can’t do for yourself. In prayer things start shifting that you can’t shift yourself. In prayer, God starts moving what you can’t move yourself.
Prayer has been called “the outlet of trouble, and the inlet of comfort.” It’s likened to when you are in a really hot, stuffy, and humid room, and in order to address the situation, you open the window. Doing so removes the oppressive heat that is on the inside, and let’s in what is refreshing on the outside.
That’s what happens when we pray. We are letting out the oppressive, stuffy air on the inside so that we can let in the refreshing word, hope, and encouragement on the outside. Prayer is the believer’s privilege. May it be a privilege that we don’t take for granted and one that we practice every single day.
