The Blessing Of Revelation
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and insight he has made known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure that he outlined in Christ, as a plan for the fullness of time, to gather up all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth. (Ephesians 1:7-10)
As we continue our discussion on the blessings we receive from the Son of God, I want us to talk about the third of five blessings. There’s the blessing of redemption, the blessing of reconciliation, but thirdly Paul goes on to say in Ephesians chapter 1 verses 8-10 that we also have received the blessing of revelation.
Christ, the text says, reveals to Christians the will of God for their lives. “With all wisdom and insight,” the text says, Christ “has made known to us the mystery of his will.” In accordance with His good pleasure and as an act of His lavish grace, God makes known His will to us. That’s revelation.
And what a blessing that is because sometimes we don’t see things clearly. Sometimes, we don’t know what we should do, what we should say, or where we should go, but thanks be to God, because He gives us revelation and helps us to see things clearly that we could not see clearly on our own.
The Lord doesn’t want us to remain in a state of confusion. He doesn’t want us wandering, wondering, and walking around without a clue. He wants us to be clear about what His will is for us. He wants us to grow in wisdom and discernment. And He wants us to be confident in knowing that we’re following the right path because we’re following His lead. He makes all of this clear to us through His revelation, which is reason enough to be thankful for such a wonderful blessing.
