Time Is No Match For God
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. (Galatians 6:9)
Part of being a follower of Christ is understanding that sometimes you have to hold on to what God has said, even when it contradicts what you see. The doctor may show you a tumor on the X-ray, but God has decreed your healing. Your bank account may be overdrawn, but the Lord says He’ll supply your needs. If God has declared it, God will deliver it.
Here’s what the devil knows. He knows that impatience is the enemy of perseverance. As time elapses, negativity, doubt, and pessimism can set in, and we begin to tell ourselves it’s never going to happen. We think, “perhaps I misunderstood what God said,” or “it’s too late now, I may as well throw in the towel and give up.” But we should never allow life’s delay to cause us to give up on God’s promises.
Scripture has so much to say about the value of persevering when hope seems lost. Paul said in Galatians 6:9, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Psalm 37:7 says, “Be still before the LORD, and wait patiently for him.” In other words, time is no match for God.
Sarah was 90 and Abraham was 100 before they conceived Isaac. Israel wandered in the wildness 40 years before they walked into the Promised Land. David was anointed king 15 years before he actually became King. The man at the pool of Bethesda sat 38 years before he got his blessing. The woman with an issue of blood persevered 12 years before she got healed. But in every single one of these circumstances, God came through. And if He came through for them, He can come through for you as well.
Don’t let your impatience or your circumstances make you doubt what God has promised. Keep trusting, keep believing, and keep hoping, even if what you see in front of you screams to give up hope.
