Praying All The Time
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. Do not quench the Spirit. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-19)
Prayer is one of those things for which you can never do too much. The Bible makes it very clear that we should pray without ceasing, or without stopping. We should constantly be in prayer, communicating with our Heavenly Father about whatever is going on in our lives and in the lives of those around us.
It can be so tempting, however, to only pray about the big things. The job loss, the cancer diagnosis, the wayward family member, the broken friendship—those are all big issues that we often take to God without any hesitation. But when it comes to the little things, for some reason, we think we have those under control.
However, we must remember that in reality, nothing is in our control. Even if a situation seemingly appears small and simple, we still need the Lord to help us with it. We still need to request that He give us His wisdom and His direction. We still need to ask Him for help. Nothing is too big or too small to bring to the feet of Jesus.
So whatever you’re facing today, whether big or small, take some time to go to the Lord in prayer. Whatever your needs are, ask Him about them. Don’t think you have to carry anything in your own strength. Instead, hand it all over to Him, and watch Him walk through it all with you, every step of the way.
