Jesus Is Knocking
Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. (Revelation 3:20)
In the book of Revelation, John has a vision of Jesus returning to the churches of Asia Minor, offering them commendation and critique, complements and correction, with the aim of perfecting the church, edifying the saints, glorifying His Father, annihilating the kingdom of darkness, and ushering His kingdom on Earth as it is in Heaven.
But for it all to happen, Christ must first invite those who follow Him to turn the circumstances of their lives, their communities, and their churches around, and he does so with an image of Christ standing at the door knocking. It is an invitation of help, hope, and healing, one that is rooted in Christ’s desire to enter their lives, if only they would let Him in.
We will continue to face disappointment, hurt, loneliness, and pain as long as we try to walk through this life. If we refuse to invite Jesus into our lives and our circumstances, nothing is going to get any easier or better. In fact, life is just going to seem more and more difficult. But if we choose to open the door as Jesus is knocking and invite Him in, He can and will help us.
He doesn’t want us to face this life alone. He doesn’t want us to be weighed down under the burdens we’re trying so hard to carry. He wants us to experience His best. But we can only do that if we surrender everything over to Him.
Have you opened the door to Jesus? Or is He still knocking at the door waiting to be invited in? If the latter is true, I pray that you will invite Him in today and ask Him to help you with whatever is going on in your life right now.
