His Greater Plan
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. – Ephesians 3:20-21
Understanding that God establishes plans that are often so different from our own plans doesn’t come easily for His children and for believers. But when God moves in His own unique way, when we grasp the totality of his vision and his awesome power, it’s enough to blow our minds.
God is able to paint a picture that is greater, bigger, and broader than anything that you or I could imagine, but to do so He has to color outside the lines. He has to disrupt our perspective and interrupt our assumptions about what is acceptable, conceivable, and possible in order to get us to the place, and in the place, that He wants us to be.
The more I reflect upon our desire to be in the will of God and to discover it for our lives, the more grateful I become that the words of Isaiah 55: 8-9 are true, where the Lord says, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
When God speaks, when God moves, when God beckons us it will not always look like something we will necessarily accept or understand. But that doesn’t mean what He has planned for us isn’t good. In fact, what God has for us is always better than anything we could come up with based on our own understanding. That hope and promise is something we should all be excited about and look forward to as we see God’s plan unfold in the days and years to come!
