The Lord Hears Your Prayers
“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us – whatever we ask – we know that we have what we asked of him.” – 1 John 5:14-15
When you pray and ask God for something, do you believe that He hears your prayers? Do you believe He will answer them? Or have your disappointments and tough circumstances caused you to lose faith in the God who’s on the other side of your prayers?
Many people don’t pray like they should because of hurts, heartaches, let downs, and disappointments they’ve faced in the past. They either feel that it’s not worth it to pray, that it’s a waste of time, or that they’re not good enough for God to answer their prayers. They assume they’ve messed up too much or that their issues are too insignificant for God to have to bother with.
But be encouraged – there is no problem that God cannot handle. There is no person that is beyond the care, concern, and compassion of the Lord. Whenever you’re wondering if God hears your prayers or if it’s worth it to pray, consider these scriptures.
In John 14:13-14, Jesus says, “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask for anything in my name, and I will do it.”
1 John 5:14 says, “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.”
Paul says in Philippians 4:6, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, my prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
Psalm 55:22 says, “Case your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.”
When a teacher repeats herself in the classroom, that’s usually an indicator to the students that the repeated information is important. We should view Scripture in the same way. If God was this intentional about inspiring the authors of the Bible to repeatedly say that He hears and answers our prayers, we should pay attention. We should take that information to heart, and we should believe it with everything in us. The Lord hears your prayers. He answers your prayers, and nothing you’ve done or haven’t done can change that.
