New Methods, Same Mission
“What God has made clean, do not call common” – Acts 10:15
The entire tenth chapter of Acts tells the story of two very different men. Peter, a Jewish follower of Jesus, and Cornelius, a Roman centurion. One man was raised under strict tradition and religious law. The other was seen by Peter’s people as an outsider and an enemy. But in this powerful moment, God stepped in and shattered every human-made division.
God told Cornelius to send for Peter, and at the same time, He gave Peter a vision that challenged his understanding of what was clean or unclean. When the two finally met, Peter did something no one expected. He walked into a Gentile’s home, preached the gospel, and watched as the Holy Spirit moved mightily. Salvation came to that house. The Spirit fell. Lives changed.
But this is bigger than just a moment in church history. This is a reminder that God still uses new methods to carry out the same mission. He still calls His people to move past their traditions, step outside their comfort zones, and reach others in unexpected ways.
Maybe you’ve been trying to cling to what feels familiar. Maybe you’ve been hesitant to let God stretch you into new territory. But Acts 10 reminds us that obedience sometimes means going to people you never thought you’d go to, in ways you never imagined, with a message that never changes.
This is not just about Peter or Cornelius. It is about how God works through ordinary people to reach others. He opens new doors, sends new assignments, and challenges old mindsets so that more people can come to know Him. What seemed uncomfortable for Peter at first became a revival in a place the gospel had not yet touched.
Do not box God into the way things have always been. Let Him show you what He can do when you trust Him beyond your preferences. The mission remains the same. But sometimes the method has to shift so more people can experience the goodness of God. Are you willing to move with Him?
