Finding God in Your Trouble, Not After It
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble.” - Psalm 46:1
Trouble has a way of making you feel alone. The moment pressure rises, your mind starts imagining that God must be standing somewhere outside the situation, waiting for you to push through so He can step in later. It is easy to think He helps after the storm clears, after the problem settles, after you pull yourself together. Psalm 46 tells a different story. God is present in trouble, not just beyond it.
Sometimes the hardest part of walking through difficulty is believing God has not stepped away. You pray and feel nothing. You search for answers and still have questions. You keep moving, but the weight does not lift right away. That quiet gap can make you assume God is distant. Yet Scripture insists that He is closest in the very places that feel overwhelming.
Strength does not grow in calm seasons. It grows in the middle of struggle. You learn resilience by facing what tries to knock you down. You develop depth by trusting God when the path is unclear. You discover courage when you take another step after a disappointing day. None of these qualities form after the trouble passes. They form while you are still in it.
Take a moment and think about a difficult season you survived. There were days when you felt worn down, but something kept you steady. There were moments when you wanted to quit, but something nudged you forward. That was not luck or personality. God was strengthening you in ways you could not see. He was teaching you how to stand when everything around you was shaking.
You may be in a place right now where nothing feels simple. Before you assume God is far away, pause and breathe. He is right there. He is holding pieces that you cannot carry on your own. He is guiding you even when the path feels tight. He is shaping something in you that will outlast the trouble itself.
Do not wait until things improve to look for Him. Look for Him in the middle of it. Look for Him in the small moments of peace, in the conversations that bring clarity, in the strength that shows up out of nowhere. God is an ever present help, not an after the fact helper. He is with you now, and He is working in ways you will understand later.

Thank you God for always being there with me, helping me while I am going through it all. It feels so good to know, without a doubt, that You will never leave nor forsake me. That’s why I trust You. That’s why I worship You.That’s why I lean on You. That’s why I love You.
