Stop Burying What Is Still Alive
“Behold, you desire truth in the inward being.” - Psalm 51:6
There are certain feelings we try to bury because we do not want to deal with them. Hurt from something someone said. Fear from a moment that shook us. Regret from a choice we wish we could take back. Shame from something we never talk about. We tell ourselves that if we push those emotions deep enough, they will disappear. The truth is, they do not die. They grow. What you bury alive eventually comes back stronger.
Unresolved emotions never stay quiet. They show up in your reactions, in your relationships, and in the way you talk to yourself. You might notice anger that feels bigger than the situation. You might shut down when a conversation gets close to something sensitive. You might avoid people or places that remind you of the wound. These are signs that something inside you needs attention, not avoidance.
Healing begins with honesty. God is not asking you to fix yourself. He is asking you to tell the truth about what is going on inside you. When David prayed this verse, he was not pretending to be strong. He was admitting that the real battle was happening in his heart. God desires truth in the inward being because honesty opens the door for healing. What is brought into the light can finally be restored.
You may think that naming your emotions will make them worse. In reality, acknowledging them gives you control over them. When you say I am still hurt or I am still scared or I am still carrying this, you stop letting the emotion run your life from the shadows. You give God room to work in places you have been trying to hide.
Think of a wound on your skin. If you cover it and never clean it, it gets infected. But if you uncover it, clean it, and care for it, it begins to heal. Your emotions work the same way. Buried pain does not heal with time. Pain heals when it is brought before God with truth and humility.
If something is stirring in you today, take a moment to be honest with God about it. Tell Him what you have been trying to bury. Healing does not start with strength. It starts with truth. And God meets you right there.
