Go Get Your Stuff Back
"And he divided his forces against them by night, he and his servants, and defeated them and pursued them to Hobah, north of Damascus." – Genesis 14:15
If you want your stuff back, you’re going to need more than emotion. You’re going to need a strategy. Abram did not rush into battle blindly. He didn’t act out of panic or pride. He developed a plan. The text says he attacked at night, catching the enemy off guard when they were vulnerable and unprepared. Because of that strategy, he didn’t just fight hard; he fought smart. And he got everything back.
Many people lose things and just want to fight without wisdom. You want your finances back, your peace back, your family back, but you’re not thinking clearly about how to pursue it. You are reacting instead of planning. But victory does not come to the one who yells the loudest. It comes to the one who moves the wisest. A good heart without a clear plan will still leave you defeated.
If the enemy has taken your health, your strategy might look like discipline, consistency, and sacrifice. If the enemy has stolen your peace, your strategy might include removing some toxic people, committing to prayer, or walking in forgiveness. If the enemy has touched your finances, your strategy might be a budget, wise counsel, and a long view of stewardship. The point is, a strategy matters.
When I was ten years old, someone stole my bike. I came home crying, broken, feeling like it was over. My dad didn’t comfort me with pity. He said, “Don’t you come back until you get that bike back.” That was the day I learned that sometimes love doesn’t sound soft. Sometimes love sounds like a challenge. And our Father in heaven is telling some of you the same thing. You have cried long enough. Now it is time to go get your stuff back.
Fight for your peace. Fight for your marriage. Fight for your dream. But don’t fight blindly. Get a strategy. Pray for wisdom. Surround yourself with the right people. And then move in obedience, move with courage, and go get back what the enemy thought he could steal. You are not called to stay broken. You are called to recover it all.
